Based on a 19th-century English Hunting song, written about a Cumberland Farmer of the same name
to the tune of an old nursery rhyme. The modern day John Peel was the best known and best loved
disk jockey in the UK for nearly forty years, introducing such talents as T-Rex, Captain Beefheart,
Frank Zappa, Leonard Cohen, the Sex Pistols, Pulp, Kate Bush, The Undertones and slew of others to
British listeners. He was also responsible for helping to get me out of jail in 1971. A lovely man.
