Man is the measure of all things known (to man);
Our ten-fold base derives from stump and thumb.
Had our Creator scanned math’s master plan—
A base of twelve would trump all Kingdom Come.

Ten is the silliest marker man could have chosen for an arithmetic base.  It can be divided only by two and five.  Had we been born with five fingers and one thumb, humanity’s base for ‘the one true science’ would have been twelve— which boasts four divisors.  See Number: The Language of Science by Tobias Dantzig (Allen & Unwin 1930) to comprehend what a catastrophe evolution created in human mathematical method by giving us only four fingers and one thumb on each hand.
