When thrushes eggs lie in the dew
And mangled nestlings fall,
Who needs an up to date ‘Who’s Who’
To guess who’s come to call?
When stink and stenches plague a house,
The owners use their brains,
They do not blame the attic mouse —
They clear the blocked-up drains!
Yet when our children play the fool,
Or hide drugs on the shelves,
We blame their teachers or their school,
Or worse, we blame ourselves.
