As mass extinctions come and go,
         They sneer at Michelangelo;
       Shakespeare’s genius is just
         A rumour to volcanic dust.

       Bacilli and fungal spores
          Lose no sleep on Newton’s Laws;
       Nor do polar ice-caps learn
         Of odes on any Grecian Urn.

       Neither moon nor asteroid
          Alters course for Jung or Freud;
       Atlas shrugs and rolls his eyes
         When hairless apes philosophise.
