Any fool can filch a smile
To paste upon a door,
Any fool can cache a pile
Of sins beneath the floor;
Any fool can bolt a heart
And hide away the key,
Any fool can plot a chart
Or sail away to sea;
But boards will sag
And smiles will slip
With nothing to hold them fast,
And bolts will rust
And the bravest ship
Must straggle to port at last.
