How lucky we are to be alive—
Oh, I know what you’re thinking:
‘Alright for some!’
But listen, chum,
This glass of beer I’m drinking,
That nibbly-bit you just ate up,
Your dog beside you snoring,
They’re all a piece
Of life’s sweet lease,
Those rooks in that tree cawing,
The slithering eels in this canal,
Are all a part and parcel,
You laugh at me,
But can’t you see
The stones that form the castle
Are each of ’em but a molecule,
Each a part of the story,
While you sit here
Too deaf to cheer,
Too blind to glimpse life’s glory.
